Using XP Pro, 512MB SDRAM, Iomega 750MB USB ZIP Drive. When I boot to
windows, the drive is shown in Windows Explorer but after the screen saver
comes on and I awake the PC with a mouse movement, the drive is no longer
shown in Explorer and I have to re-boot to be able to use that drive. Then
if I let it go into screen saver mode again and awake it, the drive is gone
again. Any suggestions please. TIA, Jim Richards

Go into Device Manager and locate the USB hub and the drive. Check the
properties for both to see if there is a power management tab. If there is,
make the necessary change that disallows the device to go into standby.

Or contact Iomega to see what workaround or patch they have for keeping the
zip drive active through a cycle of standby and resume.

Thank you Sharon. Iomega advised that it is a plug-and-play device and has
to be re-activated after each sleep (standby) cycle. I don't understand
this cause my CD Burner is also plug-and-play and I don't loose it after a
sleep session. I think they are giving me the run around. Right now, I
still have to re-start windows to be able to use the ZIP Drive. My drives
are setup as follows:
A - 3 1/2" Floppy
C - 13GB Fat 32
D - 20.5GB Fat 32
E - 7GB Fat 32
F - Iomega External USB 750MB ZIP FAT 16
G - Cendyne CD Burner

Shoudl the Zip Drive be a letter AFTER the CD Burner instead of at the F
position? TIA, Jim.

I don't understand it either but apparently Iomega feels this is normal...

That looks fine to me. I hesitate suggesting that you reletter the drives
if that is what's more convenient for you because the Iomega zip drives
seem to be quite agressive about grabbing on to a letter and holding on to
it. In fact, if you ever have to reinstall Windows, remove the zip drive
before doing so or it might grab "C:"
