Hi Everybody,
I was about to purchase an External hard-disk for my Windows 2003 server,
but
a friend warned me that he did that a while ago and he lost everything on
his W2K3 server
because it lost the partition table and he told me W2K3 server has problem
with External USB
hard-drives and I should avoid using them until first service pack for W2K3
come out, do you have
any other experience about this? is it a fact or just an accident? If you
are using any specific
USB external hard-disk on a W2K3 server can you please give me the brand
name,
Thanks - Sam

This is not fact.
I have used many external USB HDD on W2K3 servers and never had any
problem. Nor have I heard this problem from anyone else. I have
personally used Maxtor external drives, as well as many generic 3.5"
enclosures that I have put a variety of different hard drives into.
I've gotten these generic 3.5" enclosures at www.newegg.com and similar
sites. Then just buy a hard drive and put it into the enclosure. Let
me know if that doesn't answer your question.

Regards,
Rick Gouin, MCSE
