External USB HD shows much less space..!!

Installed an External 80G HD to USB port and only seeing 1.1G as the
capacity.
What happened?
This is an IBM2292-21U running WinXP Home SP2. main HD is 40G.

How do I get my 80G ??

The first thing that I would do is try it with another PC. Most USB drives
come
partitioned and formatted with FAT32 so they can be used with Windows, Linux
and Macs.
 
Got some help from the Seagate FAQ website. Needed to use Windows XP
Disk Management to Intialize, Partition and Format.
Now OK.
