Has anyone had success getting a USB hard drive to work with a A7N8DX
motherboard within DOS? If so can you share how you achieved it. I
have been able to do it with another ASUS motherboard but not this
one.

You need DOS drivers to access the USB.

Yes, I am well aware of that. What I need to know is what drivers
will work with A7NDX motherboard. I have gotten the external USB
drive to be seen in DOS with a an ASUS A7V600 motherboard, but the
same boot disk will not recognize an external drive with the A7NDX
board.

Is there a setting in the bios to enable legacy usb support?
Might help if it exists...
good luck!

How about generic USB drivers similar to CD drivers?
What is the file system on that external drive? Partition size?

To get this to work on the other system I used a file called
USBASPI.SYS. That detected the USB port and configured it. Then I
used the file DI1000DD.SYS, that loaded the drivers for the mass
storage device.

Unfortunately that will not work for the ASUS A7NDX board.

It is a FAT 32 (I now DOS can not recognize NTFS) It is a 60 gig
partition. I thought maybe DOS could not recognize a partition that
large, but it was recognized on the other system. The problem seems
to be that the USB is not being found.
