Hi,

I formatted Windows XP and the external USB hard disk was plugged in. When
the installation finished, the external hard disk became inacessible. The
"drive is not formatted, do you want to format it now?" message appears and
the file system is RAW instead of NTFS.

Is there a way to access/restore the date on the drive?

Thanks.

I had a similar problem after a repair of Windows XP. At some stage I must have agreed to reformat my extra 250 meg, NTSF formatted hard drive. It was overwritten with a 128 meg FAT partition and the rest was unformatted. I used a program called Partition Magic Version 8 to delete the new partition and then search for any previous partitions, then restore them. Worked a treat.
Maybe you could do similar.

What problem?

You do realize that you made this post onto a public newsgroup, right?

Better yet, use a newgroup reader instead of the moronic egghead cafe.
