Hi

I've a computer which always reboots after I've plugged in my usb hard disk.
When the disk is plugged in before boot up, he won't even start windows.

Error logging mentionning something about DCOM error.

Any thought to solve this ?

Grtz

Does the USB HDD *WORK* in another PC? Does another USB device work
fine in the same plug?

Besides you should tell at least which version of OS you're using.

A key part of the problem may be how the USB drive is powered. It may be
that the MBD cannot supply startup current for the drive, or there is a
problem within the drive during startup.
If the drive has provision to use an external power supply (wall wort) try
it.
