Hey all,

I have external USB pretec digibank and the problem is that when I connect
it to the computer, Windows XP install the usb and finally it says that
windows XP unable to recognize new hardware/device and ask to boot the
computer. When I do that windows XP does not open at all. When I try to
connect the hardware position windows XP does not recognize it at all. I have
tried to add new hardware and tried to connect it to other computer but the
result is the same. I have send that machine to the device support but it
came back with the message that the machine is OK. Can anyone help me??

Is the Pretec Digibank a new device that you're trying to install? Or has
it been installed before and worked? If it worked before, what has changed
on the system since that time?

If new, did a driver disc accompany this hardware? Did you follow
directions for installing? With some devices the order of installing
(usually software and then device) can be critical to success. Most
hardware devices include a free technical support incident for installation
issues. If included with this device, take advantage of that service.

There is an XP driver at the Pretec website. From the description it looks
like it is a universal driver for all models of card readers. Don't know if
it applies to your hardware or not. If you can dertermine that and the
driver is newer than what you have on CD, may want to give it a try.

Looks like they also have available some applications that are used with
their hardware towards the bottom of the page.
