External monitor as primary monitor on Dell Latitude?

Hi,
A friend of mine connected a Philips 17" VGA monitor to her Dell
Latitude laptop. The laptop runs XP and has a nVidia geforce 64 video
card. She gets an extended desktop over the two displays with the Dell
display as the primary monitor. Now she wants to make the Philips
monitor the primary monitor but the "Use this device as primary
display" option in Display Properties is greyed out (unavailable).

Does this mean this is impossible or are we overlooking something?

Is this really the "millon dollar question"? Or is this the wrong group
to ask? If so what would be a better group to post this question?
