Please can someone help me with this problem I have tried to install an
external mobile drive but the message I get from the device manager is "The
device is disabled because the firmware of the device did not give the
required resources (code 29)"

I've used the drive disk that came in the package, I've enabled very thing
in the bio and it still didn't work

Drive model UE350A (USB2.0+IEEE 1394 COMBO)

The operating system I'm using is Windows XP

Thanks

Here's what Microsoft has to say ...
(see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;310123
"Code 29
This device is disabled because the BIOS for the device did not give it any
resources. (Code 29)

You must enable the device in the BIOS. See your hardware documentation for
details, or contact your computer manufacturer to get an updated BIOS.
Solution button: None

This code means that the device has been disabled because the device does
not work correctly and cannot be made to work correctly with Windows. This
code may also occur if the device is intentionally disabled in the BIOS.

You may be able to resolve this error code by enabling or disabling the
device in the computer's CMOS settings. Windows cannot override this
setting. Contact the computer's manufacturer for help with using the
computer's CMOS configuration program.

Note In Windows XP Device Manager, Code 29 may contain the following text:
This device is disabled because the firmware for the device did not give it
a required resource. (Code 29)"

Your device is apparently manufactured by Data-Tec - see...
http://www.data-tec.com.tw (note they're in Taiwan).

You may want to contact them at (e-mail address removed) and explain your
problem. Perhaps there's a firmware upgrade or some other fix. On the other
hand, if you can return it to the vendor for assistance, that may be your
best bet at this point.

From the perspective of 'fit for use' and consumer rights: if this box is
labelled XP compatible and 'out of the box' it doesn't work, then you have a
right to expect a full refund [or credit] for the value of the item.

Go back to the supplier and ask for it to be swapped with one that works,
and be prepared to pay a little more for one that is trouble free.

Suzy,

It seems that I've the same problem.
How did you solve it eventually?

thanks,

Rene.
