External HDD problem

My external hard drive seems not to work at the moment, it started when using a trial version of acronis image and copying to the external drive. The pc see's it in device manager all ok, but it does not appear in my computer.

Happy to loose any data on it, just want it back ok to copy data to it as my backup drive. Any ideas what to do? Cheers

Muckshifter your a star , forgot about disk management oh and the little light bulb just appeared in my head! I now realise that the drive was not being seen since the failed attempt with the acronis software, so reformatted external drive drive through disk management & can now be seen

I always hate working on my own pc as i always seem to loose the techy part of my brain whilst working things out
