I've searched and searched and can't find anything that is exactly like my
issue. I have an WD SATA (500 GB) drive that came out of a My Book that
died. I took it apart and found that the drive was fine so I formatted it
(NTFS) and backed up my computer by plugging the drive directly onto my
motherboard's SATA connection. I bought an external HD enclosure
(Thermaltake Silver River, dual IDE and SATA). The problem I'm having is
that the drive is recognized in system manager (no errors), I can see it and
even access it under Disk Manager (and yes, it is assigning it a drive letter
(J) ), but it is not showing up in My Computer or Windows Explorer. I'm
having something similiar go on with a NAS I'm working on in the sense that I
can map the drive but it is not showing up on My Computer or Windows
Explorer. Is it related??
