Hello,
I just bought a new 15GB External hardrive. It says that no Driver is
needed for it to work on my windows XP. When i plug the device in, a
little green light comes on ( suggesting that it works ), on the
device, But nothing happens on the computer ?????
Please help if you can,
Many Thanks

Your USB port is not providing enough power to the drive. Did it come with an external power
adapter? Alternatively, there are some cables that allow the user of either two USB ports

Go to Start -> Run and enter diskmgmt.msc in the Open box.

If your external drive is present in Disk Management you may
need to create a partition on the drive and format that
partition.

How to use Disk Management to configure basic disks in Windows
XP
