External Hard Drive

I did a posting earlier, but had some wrong information on
the computer that I was working on.

Here is my question. I have a Compaq laptop with Windows
XP that I am trying to hook up an external floppy drive
to. I am hooking it up to a parallel port. I do not have
any software to load that came with the external floppy
drive. I am wondering if I need drivers to install and if
so, how do I determine which ones and where do I find
them. The laptop is a Compaq Presario 2100. The External
Floppy Drive is a Compaq brand Serial Number
1S1202S3K680RJ. That is all the info I have on it.

The External Floppy Drive is good, because I can hook it
up to another laptop that runs Windows 2000 and it works.

I would appreciate some help with this.

XP doesn't support many parallel devices except for printers. If COMPAQ
doesn't have current laptops with XP working with that setup, then it
probably can't be done. But go ahead and try W2K drivers from COMPAQ to see
if maybe they will work.
