External Hard Drive

Lost external hard drive. Maxtor II is not recognized by windows os. Device
manager finds it and says working properly. Checking I find that SCSI check
say Bus, Logic Unit, Port, and Maget ID are "Not Available" It does not show
in My Computer. I have tried reinstallation and get the new hardware and
installed and working balloons. Still just not available to operating system.
Norton Ghost cannot find it either, gives error message E7D1001D, cannot find
path.

Should I deleat and reinstall USB drivers from Device manager?

What does DISK MANAGEMENT say. Can you allocate a drive letter?
 
Keith,,, thanks for the help.
I have been sucessful in assigning a letter, but declined to format, as I
would like not to earase all the data on the drive. I am going to do cold
boot and see what happens.
