Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to load XP on an external hard drive
for a laptop and then when the computer boots up you can redirect it to use
the external hard drive?

How can I do this? Thanks for your help in advance

Does the BIOS of your laptop permit the booting from external devices?

Here is what I am after. My corporate computer has some security controls
like not allowing active x etc... What I want to do is use the alt hard
drive to run my programs without the security control running?

I need to load a program and my laptop does not allow it with the corp
settings. I figured I could load it on the external hard drive and maybe run
it from there?

Any ideas on what I can do?

Thanks
Mike

Talk to your IT Support people and see if they will remove the
restrictions in your particular case.

Nothing. The security settings are enforced by the operating system and your
IT department. The fact that you load and run a program from an external
drive is not going to change this fact.

No. External drives are designed for file storage
and backups only.
