I use other programs (e.g., Corel, Photoshop, Visio) to
create graphics. Could someone offer rules of thumb for
the different graphics types (e.g., bmp, tif, jpeg, eps)
and offer an explanation for which is best for on-screen
and for paper presentations in PowerPoint?

Thank you sincerely.

Generally, WMF for vector graphics, PNG for business-type graphics that include
bitmaps, JPG for photos.

Take a wide detour around EPS. Don't feed PowerPoint graphics in CMYK color;
it wants RGB. It's best to convert, if necessary, in Draw or Photoshop.
