i have just purchased an external drive for extra storage, and would like to format it in FAT32 so that i can use it when my laptop dies and i replace it with a mac. i am using windows xp and when i go to format the drive i only get the option os NTFS. Any help would be appreciated

With so many limitations, not least the 32Gb limit, in using FAT32 I would suggest not bothering ... you may end up with a bag of crisps.

Conventional wisdom holds that the way to format for FAT32 is to use a boot disk from Win98 or WinMe. Google will find a floppy or two.

Good luck, you may need it. ;)
