I was thinking of getting one to put an old 4 gig drive (or another drive I
have). I'm running Winxp and 2000 on two different machines so I'm wondering
how do I format it. Can I format it to NTFS and have it work on both
machines or does it have to be fat16 or 32?

Also do I need any special software or is it plug and play like?

Thanks

Format it under Win2k. WinXP will read anything that Win2k can write.
I assume that this will be on a USB2 port. My experience with USB is very limited but I think the drive will be detected by plug and pray.

Thanks!

I'm thinking the enclosure will be 2.0 compatible but I'm not sure if my 2
computers are 2.0 but the enclosure should be backwards compatible

Hi

I'm running 2 x 250 Gb harddrives in external drive enclosures on my
XP system.

Windows will plug and play and you format in windows as per normal,
no special software is needed.

Thanks.
