I have been using a 128MB USB 2.0 Flash Drive with no problems until now. I
have just used it and when I unplugged it crashed my machine it has done it
twice now. I plugged my camera in and unplugged that and the machine was
okay. Don't know what to do or where to look to resolve this problem and
don't know why it has started doing it now when it has been working fine.
When it is plugged in there is a little icon in the task bar with a green
arrow which when you hover over it, it says 'safe to remove device'.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi,

You have to right click on that icon with the green arrow and select
`Safely remove device,' afterwards you will hear a 'plop' sound and a
globe message will appear telling you it is safe now to disconnect the
device. Only after this message appears can you remove the drive,
doing otherwise might affect the system.

Good luck

I think it has probably affected the system. I had been removing the device
without right clicking, it didn't cause a problem until yesterday and now it
crashes my machine with XP on every time. Don't get that icon on my desktop
running W98 so I just remove it and have no problems. Don't know how to
sort it as I need to be able to use obviously on both machines.
