How do I configure my DNS server to resolve external addresses if I dont

I guess I want queries to look at the root servers - How do I do that
That is the default. Make sure you have root servers defined in "Root
Hints" of the
server properties. Make sure you have no "." (root) zone configure (delete
it if you
do) on your internal DNS servers. There is a bug/feature where the
Microsoft DNS
server install for AD makes this automatically whether you need it or
ot -- most
people don't need it. In fact, almost no one needs it created
automatically.
It seems odd that you cannot use a forwarder...hmmmm
Although it is perfectly legal, perhaps even reasonable, for you to use
direct
recursion from the root down through the Internet namespace it is UNLIKELY
that you have no alternative.
