IE 6 updated with SP1 for Windows XP Home edition has got
to be the most bug-ridden program I have ever tried to run
in my 14 years of using computers. After installing
all "critical" updates as determined by Microsoft, my fast
broadband connection has almost been rendered completely
useless. Lets see, I cannot log on to 95% of any of my
secure websites including even Yahoo mail, online banking,
credit cards, buying services, etc. In addition, I seem
to be able to open up a website but once I attempt to
navigate to one of its links, the system hangs forever,
and if I wait long enough I get the lovely DNS Error -
Cannot find server message. To make it worse, when I try
to get to IE6's Online Support, I cannot even get to tell
Microsoft of my problems because after I fill out their
message form and click "Submit" guess what, the same
problem happens and nothing goes through, talk about being
screwed six ways from Sunday! I have updated all virus
software, Norton & their Firewall software, but even when
I totally disable them and tweak all Internet Options
settings, such as cookies, java scripts, etc. I get
nowhere. Maybe I'll go back to just using a stand alone
Dos computer like I started out using in 1989 and just run
applications. Totally frustrated and disgusted and if any
body has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.
Unforturnately I turned off System restore some time ago
to save memory so I can't even run that to get the system
back to a time when everything worked fine. I'll stop
whining now and try to find some sort of solution.
