Extension Cable for Sensor

I just purchased a new Dell XPS computer with Windows Vista and ordered a TV
Tuner with Remote and sensor. I had no idea what it was but decided it would
be fun to figure out and make DVD's to take to camp with us. After getting it
all set up, I am having a couple of issues. The 1st and most annoying is that
my TV is in a different room from the computer. The sensor only has a 10 foot
wire that runs from the front of the DVR/Cable Box to the sensor. So there is
no way for me to have the sensor near the computer. Dell tells me that there
is no way to connect an extension cable to it. So does the maker of the TV
Tuner expect that everyone has their computer next to the TV? Am I missing
the point of this? Has anyone else had the same issue? (I will deal with the
next problem after I get this one resolved.)

Any suggestions would be greatly appeciated.

I have only one and it may not be of much help but have you contacted
the maker of the TV Tuner? I suspect it's not Dell but some company
that sells the device to Dell. Possibly contacting them directly might
get you some more information.
