Where can I get a 6" IDE drive cable extender (male on one end,
female on the other)?

I want to add a second drive and the drive mounts are further
than 6" apart (the normal spacing).

Thanks.

If the first drive is close to the mobo you can turn the cable around.

Extenders for ide cables are not common. However, longer cables are
very common. You can add a connector to a long one easily.

You could make your own...... And if you're REALLY cheap, just unsolder a
connector from an old IDE drive that you don't use.....and wire that
up......lol....... I used one of those connectors on a project of my own
(non hard drive, actually it was for an external paralell driven LCD.....but
the ide cable seemed to be a good fit)

Thanks for the various suggestions.

Also, if anybody thinks about using a "pinch-on" connector,
I don't like them. Bad results.

It's not. Thanks for the suggestion.

Some places should stock longer cables. I guess you're gonna have to do some
searching.

I have various cables here with differing distances between
connectors/lengths but I doubt that's any use to you. They're all 40 wire
and I'm in NZ. I actually have an IDE cable with about 5 connectors on it.
LOL, I've got a box full of IDE cables.
