I recently configured my Windows XP system to run with two
monitors under the "Extended Desktop Mode", however the
taskbar only stretches out along the bottom of the primary
monitor. Is there any way to have the taskbar go along
the bottom of both screens?

Brian,

Not built-in to Windows XP. However, it's possible via the use of at least
one third-party program.
Try this:
http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/

Ultramon also adds many other handy enhancements - like the ability to have
a separate wallpaper or screensaver on each monitor.
There may be other alternatives out there too.

Hope this helps!

I actually find it better to have it all on one monitor,
and use this configuration. Back when I first got my
GeForce2MX Twinview, I stuck with windows ME, because it
allowed me to control the monitors as two seperate
entities if I chose, however the windows 2000 detenator
drivers at the time, only allowed me to span across both
monitors as a single desktop with the same resolution,
which is what you want. One major drawback of this is,
many applications, like to center themselves, which can
be a big problem when that is 1/2 on one monitor and 1/2
on another. At any rate, see if your video card driver
allows you to select a spaned mode.
If this is two seperate video cards, then this option
would not work.

Another option, if you are a developer, or have access to
someone who can write software for you, would be to use a
SetWindowPos call on the taskbar. This likely won't work
well if you use the auto-hide feature though.
