extarnal hard drive

i am have a problem with this new acomdata extarnal, wxp regonize the new disk
on the disk manager but a won.t gimme a letter (like c drive on my computer)
so a look like the drive ist not even connect to the computer...if somebody
know
about it you can leave a message to me at (e-mail address removed) thanks

Has the external drive been partitioned and formatted?
