My digital camera lets me adjust the exposure compensation from -2 to +2.
0 is the default.

I'd like a quick summmary of when to do it.
In what lighting situation would I want to go toward -2
Ditto for +2

Thanks, Carol

This is only the 25 cent tour...and with digital
images...it's easy to make adjustments in
your image editing program so I usually leave
mine set on "0".

Aim your camera at a lighted table lamp and
play with the exposure adjustments while watching
the LCD screen. You'll get a good idea of what it
does.

If your background is too bright for the subject.....
Example...subject is in front of a window that
is bright with sunlight.
Try increasing the exposure toward + 2

If the subject is too bright for the background.....
Example...dark shady trees in the background
and the subject is washed by the bright sun.
Try decreasing the exposure toward - 2
