Exporting to Excel with conditional formatting

I have a query that I built a macro for that exports data to an excel
spreadsheet. My problem is that I have a conditional format in the
spreadsheet that highlights the background on certain cells. The problem is
when I update the spreadsheet from the query I lose the conditional
formatting formula. Is there a way that I can export the data to the
spreadsheet and still keep the conditional formatting. Not sure if this is
something that be handled on the data export(Access) or on the Import ( Excel
)end. I tried saving the spreadsheet as a template and had no luck. perhaps I
did something wrong there as well. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Try it the other way around - query access from excel (Data > Import Extenal Data > Import Data : files of type = Access Databases
....) to get your extract in Excel, then apply conditional formatting to the results, and take the option to retain the format on
refresh (which is the default, I think).
