I have had to rebuild my system several times due to
various virus calamaties, but I have managed to lose
little.

My Web research is embodied in my massive History files
which I retain for 999 days. I love this feature!

I would like to be able to accumulate my old history from
my various drives. Can I export my History somehow, store
it on a CD, and then reload it, in a manner similar to
that which can be done with IE Favourites?

I have tried simple 'cut' and 'paste' and Windows, not
surprisingly, won't let me do that!

My IE browsing History is extremely valuable to me.

You can only save your IE History folders by using Copy and Paste or by
Backing-up your History Folder. This makes sense as if you look what is in
your History Folder there is just a dat (data file) file and since IE
displays your History by date and has a limit on the number of days to keep
a history restoring old History dat files may not make them visible in the
IE History pane.

You would be better off adding the sites of interest that you visit to your
Favorites folder instead. You have options there to make the page available
off-line and if you look at the properties of a Favorites link file you will
see the date that you last accessed the page. If you use the File Explorer
to view your Favorites folder you can sort them in any number of ways (by
date, name....) and you can use the Find File Explorer Bar to search you
favorites folder.
