Is there a way to export the address book from outlook to an excel (csv or
other) type of file?
The function exists ok in the outlook express address book - but I can't see
anything in outlook.

Any help appreciated,
John Davy

YOu didn't see the FIle | Import and Export command on Outlook's main menu?

This seems to only allow you to export contacts from the contact folder - my
contacts are only listed inthe address book

See "IMI GAL Exporter" - http://www.imibo.com/imidev/Exchange/imige.htm

IMI GAL Exporter for MS Exchange Server is small utility for Exchange Admin
to export GAL (Global Access List) to MS Access 2000 table.
Key Benefits
Obtain information about all the mailboxes on a MS Exchange Server 5.x
or/and MS Exchange Server 2000
User can select more of Mailbox, Distribution List, Custom Recipient
properties from any Recipient container in Organization Tree and export it.
The add-on named "IMI Distribution List Content Exporter" is small utility
for Exchange Admin to export content of DList (Distribution List) to MS
Access 2000 table.

impossible - the Address Book is a virtual view of the Contacts folder.
Their is no physical Address Book as it has been obsolete for a few versions
now. What version are you using?

If it's not a contacts folder, then what is the name of the address list that you want to export?

And, of course, this is doable in Outlook without any add-ins, right? Which
is what the OP was asking.

It's just called Outlook Address Book

Thanks
John

"Outlook Address Book" is the name of a container in the Address Book dialog in Outlook for address lists derived from your contacts folders. It contains no data itself and has no export function.

Under the Outlook Address Book container, you should see the names of Outlook contacts folders that you have chosen to expose in the address book. Do you see them? Are these what you want to export? What are their names?

Thanks Sue

I think I must be just going a bit senile

If they're visible in the Address Book, then they MUST be in SOME Contacts
folder you currently have in your mail profile because the Address Book is
nothing but a view of those Contacts folders you have enabled as address
books. Use the Folder List view to locate all of your Contacts folders.
