Is there anyone that can tell me how to export my contact
list from my desktop to my new laptop?

If you want only to transfer your Contacts, export your Contacts Folder to a
PST file, then open that PST file in the other installation and copy the
Contacts to the Contacts Folder in that installation.

Here's a link for an add-on that we use to sync desktop and notebook machines for Outlook usage in our business that was posted in the NG.
The setup went smooth and works very well for us. We run xp pro and office 2003 pro on all. We did a test on 2 machines first to prove that it worked before we did the install for work.

Please be sure to follow all install directions and backup your files if you choose to install the add-on.
You may want to ask the MVP'S for advice from them before using this add-in, and do read all about before installing.
PS: Be sure that if you are running a firewall and anti-virus to disable these before install, on both machines.

hello

i have imported my contacts from my old computer to my new computer, however the groups within the contacts are empty. Is there a way of importing the contacts so that they are still within their groups

thanks
kaffa

Do you know what version and mail support mode you were using before? If it
was Outlook 2000 in Internet Mail Only mode, those groups will not transfer
because they were groups in the Windows Address Book, not Distribution Lists
in the Contacts Folder. Only the latter will transfer.

Yes i was using microsoft 2000 internet mail only *bugga

i thought under contacts (or the address book) they were called distribution lists?

Is there a way around this so that when i transfer outlook onto another another laptop (next week) i don't have to manually do this twice. We use it as a database also. Would Outlook Express be more efficient

Many thank
Kaffa

Just make sure you are creating DL's in the Contacts Folder, not groups in
the Address Book. With any luck, they should transfer. I'd also avoid
exporting. Just reuse the PST file so you won't lose data.
