When I export files such as Inbox, Sent Items etc to a
file so that I can install them in Outlook on another
machine, everything works fine but the messages on the new
machine are always missing their received date.
The receive date is rather important but I cannot find any
way to fix this.

Tis is because you use Import/Export. Copy the pst-file to the other system
so you can connect to it by File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

How are you exporting the files? Are you exporting them to a Personal
Folder File (.pst)? If not then give that a try and if you are already
doing that then you may want to try to simply copy the current .pst file
and move it to the other comuter.

I hope this information is helpful.
