I have asked Q once- the attribute is set for read-only and will not allow
change.
I wonder if it is because of transfer to second computer - I use Create CD
and a formatted cd for this purpose
Or because of different versions of Access

Depends on your version of Windows.

Older versions used to consider the file as read-only if it was copied from
read-only media. WinXP does not do that IIRC.

But even if the copy is marked as "read only", I'm pretty sure that that
can always be changed (even in old versions of Windows). Either use
Windows Explorer to open the file's Properties list and uncheck the
"read only" box, or use the "attrib -r" instruction at the command prompt.
