Export Specification

I have an existiing file running a macro with Transfer Text action. It lists
a specification name to use for the transfer. Where is that specification
file and how can I look at it? Doing a file search with the information in
the box returns nothing. Is there a way I can modify that file? Or do I
have to create a new Transfer Text action to update the file?

Thank You.

I believe that file is the name of a file you save when you select File|Get
External Data|Import. After selecting a file to import you press the
advanced button. It is here that you set up the import specs. Once you set
up the fields you can save this "specification" and re-use this specification
in the transfer method below.

This specification already exists and is for exporting a file. I want to
look at it and possibly change it.

Well, when you hit the advanced button mentioned below, click the specs
button, this shows you all of the specifications you have created, you can
then modify it and save it.

I'm using Access 2000 and when I go to import a table, there is no advanced
button to hit. It just imports the table. Same thing if I export. No
option to choose something other than export and it exports the file. The
specifications that it uses have to exist someplace. Where?

My example was for XP. I have no idea why 2000 would be different or how the
spec could be created w/o the advanced button. The data for the spec files
are stored in the system tables. These tables are hidden. To see the systems
table goto Tools|Options and under the view table check system objects. I
see two tables in Access XP

It is on the first screen of the wizard in ALL versions of Access. Access
doesn't give you a direct way to alter an existing import/export spec so the
procedure is to select the file you want to import/export and start the
wizard. When you get to the first form, the Advanced button is on the lower
left.
