Using Outlook 2002, Windows XP

1. ERROR Message -------
I exported a pst folder then later deleted the whole thing. Now,
every time I launch OL it says that folder."could not be found." Of
course it couldn't have been found because I deleted it, or at least I
think I did. I've run a search for it via Windos Explorer and that
couldn't find it either.

2. OBNOXIOUS DIALOG BOX --------
Also, there's a dilog box that opens called "Create/Open Personal
Folders File." It wants to me to open the same .pst file -- the one
that doesn't exist.

Is there a way to stop the annoying ERROR Message and the obnoxious
Dialog Box every time I launch Outlook?

Thanks,

Problem Solved.

In case anyone else has the same problem, here's the solution:

I found the folder listed in the Outlook Folders list in a top level
hierarchy equal to my Archive Folder. I tried shft-del but it
returned an ERROR Message saying couldn't delete it because it was "a
special folder." I then did File / Data File Management, saw it in
the list of folders, and was able to choose and delete it.

You deleted the file before you disconnected it from your profile. Your
profile is now corrupt. Create a new one. Remember not to do this next time.

What does "disconnect it from a profile" mean, and how do we delete a
folder the proper way? What I did was highlight the folder in the
folder list, then Edit / Delete.

How do I create a new profile?

Will a new profile cause other problems, and will I have to do
anything differently after having created a new profile?

Exporting a PST file is almost always a poor choice unless you have a need
to convert to a different file format. Outlook will retain its connection to
the exported file for a long time and will release it only after you cleanly
exit Outlook.
Creating a new profile is well documented:

The new profile won't do this again unless you export to a PST file again
and delete the file before you cleanly exit Outlook.
