Hi,

Can anyone point me ot a reference re moving all the Printer Devices/Printer
Shares from one Print Server to another so that all the information is
maintained so that users can access the server with no configuration needed
on desktop.

Is there a tool that allows a admin to export all the Printer Device/Printer
Share information to some kind of txt file/excel spreadsheet?

Thanks,

John.

Get Printmig.exe from Supplement One of the Windows 2000 Server Resource kit,
tip 3277 in the 'Tips & Tricks' at http://www.jsiinc.com

This GUI tool backs up or migrates the printer configurations on any print
server for which you have administrative rights. It also displays the printers
installed on one or more computers in a tree view and associated printer
information.

Printer Migrator backs up the printer configurations on a print server, which
include registry entries and printer drivers, to a .cab file. You can then use
the tool and the .cab file to restore the printer configurations on the same or
any remote Windows 2000 print server for which you have administrative rights.

This tool can help automate a vital part of enterprise-level deployment: entire
print server configurations can be backed up for fault tolerance and replicated
to or merged with the configurations of other print servers in a fraction of the
time that it would take to set them up manually.

Printer Migrator can also be run from command line, further enabling the
automation of enterprise-level deployment.

Printer Migrator does not install monitor services because the installation of
monitor services is not standardized among third-party products. If a particular
monitor service needs to be installed, however, the tool prompts the user to do
this.

Printer Migrator can run on either Windows 2000 Professional or Windows 2000
Server, and it can also run when the computers involved are not running the same
Windows 2000 product.

Notes

When Printer Migrator is run from command line, the Printer Migrator dialog box
does appear, but it automatically closes without user intervention when the
operation is complete.
To perform Printer Migrator operations, you must have administrative privileges
for the computers on which the operations are performed. You do not need
administrative privileges to display printer information.
