Export mailing address to excel

I want to export some contacts to MS excel however I
can't export the mailing address as such. Is there some
other field which contains a value that indicates which
of the 3 addresses is the mailing address (Business,
Home, other)?

Of course. Open a Contacts Record, click on the Business Address button to
see the individual address fields.
 
Thanks Russ but I want to export several thousand
contacts and some have the business address as
their "mailing address" and others have the home address
ticked as the "mailing address. I can of course export
the address's to a column but how do I know in excel
which is the mailing address?

So you want to export only the address designated as the mailing address,
and that differs among your various contacts?
Not a function that a simple export would support. You should ask in a
programming group whether this can be done.
