I would like to get an opinion regarding strategy for sharing data within the
Access database. I get increasing numbers of requests for data and would like
to scan in (or download) the requested data form, make that into an Access
report, and send it via Fax or email.
I found it very cumbersome to get outside reports into Access. If it is a
pdf file, I can take a picture. I then tried to overlay that and populate my
data on the form. Access (2003) seemed unable to accept data overlying an
image.
Next I tried using the Mail merge function of Word and populating that with
data from my Access DB. Ran into a problem updating the data in the document
and asked the Word folks about that. Can't be done on the fly.
It looks like I would have to build each report from scratch. Problem is
that the reports never match the original documents exactly and there are
things like bar codes that need to match exactly.
How have others solved this issue?
