I have tried posting this on an Outlook group but so far haven't had a reply
so I was wondering if anyone here could help me?

I have a Distribution List with about 500 email addresses in it in Outlook
2003 and I was wondering if it would be possible to export those addresses
into an Access table?

Thanks for any help,

Gavin

Open the distribution list and click 'File' on the tool bar. Select 'Save As'
and change the 'Save As Type' to 'Text Only'. Now open the text file that
you just saved. Delete the first few lines that contain the name of the
distribution list and anything else that is above the first name and email
address. Save and close the text file. Open an existing Access database and
choose 'File', 'Get External Data', Import..'. Navigate to your text file
and click 'Import'. An import wizard will start. Choose the 'delimited'
radio button and click next. Choose the 'tab' radio button and set text
qualifiers to "none". The remaining steps will built a table for you. I
hope this helps.

Many thanks for that Tim. I won't be able to try it out until I get into
work on Monday morning but I'll give it a go then.

Thanks again.

Hi Tim,
When I go to Address Book>Personal Address Book and then click on the name
of the Distribution List the File menu only gives me:

New Entry
New Message
Add to Contacts
Delete
Properties
Close

There is no option to Save or Save As.

Am I doing some thing wrong?

Regards,

Gavin

Gavin,
When you find the name of the distribution list in the address book double
click on it and it will open a new window that displays the names and email
addresses of the people on the list. Then you can follow my steps to save
the list and move it into a table.

Hi Tim,
When I double click on the Distribution List it opens the Properties
dialogue box for that list. There is no File menu and so therefore I can't
follow the steps you have suggested, i.e. select Save As and change the Save
As Type to Text Only.

Regards,

Gavin
