Export folder contents to text

Hi all,

I am using Windows 2000 SP4, (User privileges only, not
Admin). I'm trying to rationalise my team's file
structure - 1000+ folders & subfolders & 18000+ files
under "h:\our docs"!

It would be very useful to be able to export the contents
of different folders plus any subfolders to text for
control and analysis - e.g. in Excel, or to populate a
documents catalogue built in Access. Visible columns in
Explorer would be the column in the text file.

Also to export Search Results to text - e.g. all files
with extension .shp - and include "In Folder" as a column

Does anyone know a way to do this? - From a quick web
search it looks as though there are some 3rd party
shareware utilities, but I would have thought that
something this useful would be included in Windows?

Thanks for your help!
