What happens when you try it?

actually i haven't tried yet. i was told that some had some issues trying to
do a similar thing so i wanted to find a way that would be suitable for my
needs.
the requirement i have is to collect data from various files excel with the
same structure and similar name (the format name is name-yyyy-mm-dd.xls)
there is a file for each day of the year and i want to collect some data
from them without open. the fact that the files are protected is it going to
create a problem?
is any approach that you could suggest? (this is the first time i attemp to
do something like this)

It depends what is protected and whether the protection includes a
password. If there's a password, you'll have to remove the protection.
This can be done under program control by automating Excel from Access
- assuming you know the passwords for the 365 files.
