I'm having the same problem on my PC at home. Started
happening three days ago. "

Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and must shut
down..."

Looking for ideas on troubleshooting.

Hi
I'm having the exact same problem. I tried to uninstall
and reinstall but i still have the same problem. This also
happened to me three days ago while I was using Explorer
5.5. I upgraded to 6.0 hoping it would solve the problem.
I have resorted to using Netscape navigator. I've been
reading the bulletin and there doesn't seem to be
answers...only problems. Hopefully someone can help all of
us with this problem.

Steve, I've had the same problem with Windows ME over the
past several days. Dell (India) has agreed to "research
the problem", but I'm not holding my breath. Both my ISP
(Comcast Cable)and Dell point in Microsoft's direction.
Any thoughts on whom to contact?

To Steve and other people with the same problem.
I read another bulletin with a similar problem. I was able
to fix the error (iexplore.exe) by downloading adaware for
free and scanning the computer. It worked for me!!!
Venekatesh suggested the following:
You may download and install the Ad-aware spyware removal
utility from the
following Web site:
http://www.webattack.com/get/adaware.shtml

Initiate the Adaware and it will deep scan the registry for
spywares, After
the scan is finished, click [Next] button. Select all the items
(checkboxes). right click on any object in the "Scan
result" list and choose
[Select all objects], Click Next and click OK to confirm
spyware removal.

Hi,
I can confirm what Venkatesh recommended about fixing
IE not starting by scanning for spyware with ad-aware.

But I have a additional problem with my IE that
apparently it didn't fix: the browser home page keeps
getting hijacked to

http://find4u.net

Tools, Internet Options, Address and typing my desired
home page is only temporary.

Can you suggest a fix.

Thanks, Claude
