When I use Explorer to open files, it automatically
generates a "Copy1" Copy2", etc of my files. How do I
turn this function off??

How exactly (what mouse or keyboard actions) are you using to "open files"
using Explorer? For example, you would normally double-click a filename to
launch it in the appropriate program (or launch the file itself if it IS a
program) - are you doing something other than double-clicking it?

Worth going to the Control panel and checking your mouse button settings if
you're using your mouse and it's doing this, in case the buttons are
configured for some strange action.

If this has only started recently, it may be minor virus activity - worth
doing a full scan.

I use my mouse (double click) to open the document
(Word, Excel, etc) and before I get off of the Explorer
screen I see a file pop in that says Copy (1) of "doc
name". This has been happening ever since I got this
computer (about a year)!!! It drives me batty - HA! It's
like it makes a backup copy and throws it in my directory.

I've done virus scans all along and nothing shows up so
I'm figuring it is some type of option that's turned on
somewhere. But I can't find it!

It's not an option that I know of {:v(
