I dont think the "cipher" applies to XP.
Visit this site for troubleshooting secure sites browsing issue:

Your next option is to apply SP1 which has an update for the SSL.

I have found out that I am not able to connect to any secure websites on my
win Xp pro box. It is beacuse the Cipher strength is set to o-bit and it
should be 128-bit. I ahve gone through the following knowledge base article
but to no avail it is still saying 0-bit.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;261328

Does anybody have any other sugesstions?

Ni

I would be very greatfull if you could create an automated fix for this
problem.

Hi Nigel,

Thank you for posting! I am adding one point here.

If you find that the cipher strength is 0bit, the following files may be
corrupt or missing: Schannel.dll, Rsabase.dll, and Rsaenh.dll. I am
wondering if you have extracted the files. If not, you may perform the
following steps to expand the files from Windows XP CD:
1. Insert Windows XP CD into CD-ROM.
2. Run cmd to open the Command Prompt window.
3. In Command Prompt Window, go to the i386 folde on Windows XP CD.
4. Type "expand Schannel.dl_ c:\Schannel.dll" (without quotation marks) to
expand the file. Perform the same steps to expand the otehr files.
5. Boot into Safe Mode, and copy the files that you expanded to
windows\system32 folder to replace the original files.
6. Run "regsvr32 Schannel.dll" to register the file again. Perform the same
steps to register the otehr files.
7. Restart the computer.

Hope this helps!

Have a great day!

Sincerely,

Damon Xu

Hi Ramesh,

There is no Top 100 or Top 10 newsgroup FAQs. If you have any questions,
you may search the knowledge base in the following link:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;KBHOWTO

You may also post the problem out. We look forward to helping you in the
future.
