Right-Click a folder known to contain files and more folders.

Highlight an entry under the "Folder" view on the left hand side of the
windows. Using the mouse properly displays the contents of the folder in
the right-hand window with the highlighted folder shown in the left panel.

Using the UP/DN arrow button moves the highlight--BUT the right window's
conents are not updated....

This undesireable and unpredicatable behavior can result in unfortunate
consquences.

How 'bout it Microsoft--OS needs some attention...

Strange. When I do that I get a dialog box with choices. If I then highlight
a folder in the L/H pane the dialog box goes away. Do you not get a dialog
box when you right-click on a folder?

Your right it doesn't. Just hit the ENTER key when the highlight is
over a new folder you want to see the contents of.

This may be undesirable for you, I prefer the right window pane doesn't
update as I scroll through the folder view until I use the enter key.
The refreshing in the right pane would be slow and distracting in my
opinion.

just FYI I never browse through folders in this manner as standard
practice. I am more of a point and click kinda guy.

No matter how hard one tries......they just can't please everyone.

Dave--Thanks for your comments.

I *was* pleased with XP, but I craved a more customizable GUI hoping that
Vista would satisify that need.

All I can say is that XP does not have the folder update issue...
