Every time I right-click my desktop, i get a message that
Explorer must shutdown. I am running a dual monitor
configuration, one using an Intel Xtreme onboard agp and
the other using an nVidia Riva TNT2 model 64 PCI. The OS
has just been re-installed and the only programs
installed since re-installation is MS Office 2k.

All drivers are current... I am using the same drivers I
used before re-install, but did not have this problem
before.

Then like I said, "Sounds like a botched install"

If this is not the case try these suggestions:

Right click a blank area on the Desktop/Properties/Appearance
/Effects. In the Effects dialog box, click to clear the: "Use the following
Transition effect for menus and tooltips check box, and ok your way out.
And/or: Click the folder or file that you want (select it) before you
right-click it to display the shortcut menu.
