Is this issue known? And do anybody knows, if there is an Microsoft update
is available? (no hint in Microsoft Updates)
Or do anybody know a real good freeware "find in files" tool?

Explorer Search (F3) find a keyword in files is defect in Windows XP SP1 und
Windows 2003 Server
Lot's (most) of the files which contains the text/keywords will not been
found.
(other people find the issue too:

Not only is it a known issue, Search works this way by design. See:
Content Search Does Not Search All File Types for the Specified String
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;309447

There are registry tweaks to be found that allow you to add additional
file types to be searched. Instead, I opted to use a different find
tool, Agent Ransack (www.agentransack.com)
