Explorer is the desktop program
Windows Explorer is the file manager program
Internet Explorer is the web browser program.

Which Explorer are you talking about?
What are the messages that give the impression it is re-installing?
We need a lot more details if we are to help you.

Dear Richard,

To be honest: I do not know.
I hear a long run ( as if we are installing new software) and takes about 1
minute. That was not after I bought the computer.
can i see that somehow?

Karel

Does it happen when:
You start the computer?
You start the Internet browser?
You start any program?
You start just certain programs?

Richard,

If I start the Internet browser. I shut down 5 minutes ago to watch
careful.....but that's it.

If you notice a lot of hard disk activity when starting up IE and it seems
to take IE a long time to load, it's possible that your History and
Temporary Internet Files folders have become too big. IE reads through
those folders when starting up. Maybe that's the activity you are hearing.
See this site on how to totally erase those folders:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

If you hear a lot of hard disk activity when closing IE, it could be because
of a setting in IE that makes it clear the TIF when IE is closed -
Tools...Internet Options...Advanced tab, Security section - "Empty Temporary
Internet Files folder when browser is closed" Uncheck, click Apply, click
Okay.

Hi websmoker -)

You might try this free untility. It will tell you all that is running on
your system at any time. It comes in very hand for troubleshooting. I find
it very helpful.

Process Explorer - Freeware
