Hi,
My problem is when whenever I go on the Internet, explorer takes me to a
homepage I don't want. I know this isn't a virus as this has happened to me
before and one of you clever people told me to delete a file that the
website had put on my computer to make it open continually on their home
page. Can anyone tell me the name of the file I have to delete?
Thanks
Stevie

If you think it is a virus, why do you not use your up to date virusscanner?
That should take care of the problem. Please tell me you have an up to date
virusscanner?

In fact it is not a virus. It is spyware/adware/mallware.

Download adaware, update it, run it, let it delete everything it finds.
Reboot, problem solved.

Your browser has been hijacked, there are programs that'll get rid of
it, & others that'll keep you from getting hijacked again.
Did you download any free programs, or using p2p.
Go to majorgeeks.com & look in the spyware tools section. you could try
cws shredder, coolwebshredder, or hijack this, & you can post your
hijack this log http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Maybe reading this will give you an idea what has happened, how to
prevent it in the future, and some suggested applications to remove your
current hijacker:

The others told you how to rid the malware you have become infected
with. Allow me to add: get a better browser, a secure browser. And a
real newsreader. Try these on for size. All are free, and do not
interfere with your operating system.

Mozilla - 11 MB - browser, mail, news

-and/or-
Firefox [was Firebird] - 6 MB - browser only

Thunderbird - 7.5 MB - mail & news companion to Firefox

-and/or-
Opera 7.23 - 3.2 MB (free version ad supported, $39USD no ads)

he has already stated that he knows it is *not* a virus...

perhaps he does, perhaps he doesn't... it's a non sequitur here...
