Upgraded my XP notebook to Vista business last week. I've noticed that
Explorer has slowed down considerably. For example; loading My Computer can
take 15-20 seconds or opening the dialog to save an attachment from Outlook
even longer.

I'm running a dual core processor with 2gb of RAM so i don't believe it's
hardware issue.

does anyone have any suggestions?

Yeah I think my might be able to help you at least indentify why your XP
notebook is slow.

1.) download a program named "procexp.exe", a process explorer that will
show you EXACTLY what's slowing down your PC.

on my compaq system it's hardware interrupts that ran my CPU at 90% average

Vista explorer is slow loading period. My dual boot system with XP really
shows the differences.
I go back to XP and Explorer loads fast back to Vista and Explorer loads
slow even with
the memory stick trick.

Its a pathetic piece of design in that case - why slow down such a key part
of daily use? is it something to do with the search functionaity i wonder.

driving me a bit mad - mad enough to go back to XP or even to a Linux distro
when I get the time.
