explorer out of control

For the last week or so, internet explorer has started
just like pop up ads. I can be in the middle of some
urgent work or playing a game, and, all of a sudden, here
is internet explorer popping up advertising some product.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
 
Yes, you probably have been hijacked by some spyware. Download Spybot
Search & Destroy (free) from http://www.safer-networking.org/ and run it on
your system regularly.
